I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 20 years and am so fortunate to have found this profession. I have worked in many areas of dietetics including as a clinical inpatient dietetian, outpatient dietitian, diabetes educator, home care dietitian, consultant, clinical nutrition manager, and as a program manager for a healthcare website. My areas of interest are in diabetes education, clinical nutrition, and of course, education and supervised practice training for future dietitians. In my current position as the Dietetic Internship Director at SFSU, I am privileged to work with wonderfully talented, well-prepared, and passionate individuals who truly will make a difference in this world. I am also privileged to work with wonderful dietetians and other healthcare and food professionals in the field who offer our interns supervised practice rotations in a variety of settings. In addition to teaching at SFSU, I have also held leadership positions at the local and state level of the professional association and enjoy meeting and working with other passionate nutrition professionals.
When I am not teaching or working with my interns, I enjoy cooking (but not cleaning up), anything related to food (I LOVE grocery stores! produce stores! farmer's markets! restaurants!), reading, gardening, hiking, going to the beach, and of course, sharing food with family and friends.
